You all sound professional to me. I don't have anything to contribute to this, just thought I'd pop in... I haven't taken art since grade nine. My art mark was actually pulling my average down. I don't like to take electives where I have to really work to keep my mark in the 80% range. The real reason, though, is that I just don't have the patience to work at it. I like guaranteed results (If I draw for one hour, I'll have a good picture. If I spend time drawing every day for a year, I'll develop talent.) and if it doesn't work that way, it just seems like too much effort.

Ok, maybe I will. I have a few paintings I did years ago, that I could post.
One of VooDoo from WildCats, another of Catlin Fairchild from GEN13, and one of Lisa from Witchblade. There is one I wanna do of Storm, but I don't have any tracing paper.
http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif I need to get some.

Beamie, you could always make a lightbox, unless you're putting your painting on canvas. Or you could use the grid method. I, myself, don't use tracing paper unless I must.

I'm really really impressed, BAMF!. Absolutely faboo sketch. Anatomy is very hard to do right; and so is doing a dynamic drawing. I mean, I get coloring right mostly, but my anatomy sucks pretty hard at times, and my characters tend to be stiff as a board.... Maybe I should take lessons.
And maybe I should take your sketch and color it. And then we apply for a job at marvel together. Now wouldn't that be great? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif*if only I had more time*
By the way, I hope to see more from you too bluey http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

I've done a little bit of free handing. I was working on a painting of Tigera years ago and dug it out last year and free handed the stripes on her legs.
-
Okay, I scanned in the paintings. These are all copies of others work, I just liked the poses and painted them. My step dad helped on all of them
The first one is of Catlin from GEN 13. It's the last page of issue 5. The jungle around her was free handed by my stepdad and me.
Second one is Lisa from Witchblade. The shoe was actually turquiose (sp?) but I made it purple. And my step dad hid my name in the painting 12 times, but I can only find it 7 times.
Last on is VooDoo from WildCats. The back ground was done by my step dad free hand.

I had a whole long spiel set down when my computer decided that it didn't want me online anymore. After I managed to get it restarted, all of the helpful tidbits I had planned on posting had been burned out of my mind by the resulting white hot haze of anger.
http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gifAnd now, to change my mood midpost, I would like to mention that, although I don't remember a word of my spiel, anyone who has any art questions is welcome to email me and I'll be glad to try to answer. "Try" being the operative word.
